Board of Trustees Regular Meeting September 10, 2018

Meeting called to order at 10:05am. Present were Carlton McCaslin, Marie Long, Joy Marshall, Janice Painter and Susan Wonderly.  Guests present were Amy Bruno, Alysha Wogee, and Mandy Cafeo.

Public comment:  None

I. CONSENT AGENDA

Adoption of Agenda/Consent of agenda: Joy made a motion to accept the agenda; Janice seconded and the motion carried. 
 
Acceptance of minutes of 8/13/18 meeting: Janice made a motion to accept the minutes of the previous meeting as written; Joy seconded and the motion carried. 

Treasurer’s Report: (attached) Susan presented the report. Janice made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report; Marie seconded and the motion carried.  

Reports/Discussions:

In-Service Day:  Susan requested that the library be closed on November 2 for a staff In-Service Day; the Board agreed. 

Bid for Painters: One bid received from Proline (attached). It is written in two parts, one for outside and one for inside.  Janice moved to accept the bid as written; Joy seconded and the motion carried.

Calendar update: The next regular meeting will be held Monday October 8, 2018 at 10:00 am. 

Librarian’s Report:  (attached).  
Stats attached. 
Vouchers signed.
 

Public Comment:  Carlton expressed concern about the political activities that were held here on Saturday, September 8th without permission from the Library. Discussion followed regarding Library responsibilities, public’s rights, etc. and the Board members expressed concern that this could happen again. Susan was asked to add the topic to the agenda for the next meeting’ she will, and she will do further research into the matter.  

Joy made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Janice seconded, and the motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 10:44am.

Closed for Renovations

We will be closed from December 16th, until the renovations are complete in the Spring of 2025. You can check out digital e-books and audio books using the Libby app on digital devices. Kanopy, a new streaming service is available to watch for free. The Kanopy app can be downloaded to smart T.V.s, mobile devices and desktops. Learn a new language for free using the Rosette Stone database. All of these services require a library card. All fines for overdue items will be waived if they are checked out and due after our closing date. The drop box will be open on most days, but will be closed from time to time if work is being done in that room. We can’t wait to have a re-grand opening in the Spring!
