Board Meeting Minutes – 08/20/21
Meeting was called to order at 10:05a.m. Pledge was said. Present were John Shewalter, Dave Ochenreider, Brian Shoemake and Shanna Gibbons (Kameron Mitchell was absent). Guests present were Julie Butland, Don Soifer, and Ashley Campbell.
Trustee/Director Comments: None
Approval of Agenda/Consent of agenda: No action item.
Public Comment: None
Emergency Items: None.
Approval of Minutes from 7/16/21 meeting: Dave Ochenreider made a motion to accept the minutes of the previous meeting; Brian Shoemake seconded and the motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: (attached) Shanna Gibbons reviewed.
Discussion and Deliberation to approve vouchers: Dave Ochenreider made a motion to approve the minutes, and Brian Shoemake seconded the motion and it carried. Vouchers were signed by board members that were present.
Librarian’s report: Shanna Gibbons discussed the Librarian’s Report (attached).
Discussion and Deliberation that no vaccine or medical test will be required for any person entering the Pahrump Community Library facility. Dave Ochenreider made a motion and Brian Shoemake seconded. The motion passed that no vaccine or medical test will be required to enter the library.
Presentation and Discussion by Nevada Action for School Options: (See attached) Don Soifer and Ashely Campbell gave a presentation concerning the Nevada Action for School Options. They went over the details of the program, including age groups, educational growth, family involvement, various curriculum, cost, structure and development of the program. Dave Ochenreider made a motion to move forward with the program and Brian Shoemake seconded. The motion passed.
Discussion and Deliberation to create a trustee handbook and to provide Robert’s Rules of Order, 12th edition to each board member: Dave Ochenreider made a motion to accept and Brian Shoemake seconded. The motion passed.
General Public Comment: None.
Trustee/Director Comments: Brian Shoemake thanked the staff for doing a good job. Shanna Gibbons reported that the grants are going well with Amy Bruno and Alysha Wogee.
